- It is a closed system.
- All four phases of microbial growth is present.
- Primary and secondary metabolite are produced.
- Nutrients are added only one not in between the fermentation process.
- Process is stopped after the product is formed.
- Environment conditions inside the batch culture are not constant.
CONTINUOUS:
- It is an open system.
- Only lag or exponential phase is present.
- No secondary metabolite production.
- Nutrients are added in between the process.
- Process is not stopped and product is removed.
- Environment conditions are maintained at constant rate.
