Differnces between affernt neurons and effernt neurons.

Afferent neurons:

  1. They are responsible for receiving and transmitting messages to the central nervous system from all parts of the body.
  2. They make up sensory nerves.
  3. They have a single long dendrite and a short axon.
  4. The cell body of afferent neuron is perfectly rounded and smooth.
  5. They are located just outside the CNS.
  6. They are activated by external stimuli such as vision. hearing, touch etc.

Effernt neurons:

  1. They are responsible for receiving and transmitting the messages from the CNS to all the parts of body.
  2. They make up motor neurons.
  3. They have a single long axon and several dendrites.
  4. The cell body of efferent neuron is satellite shaped.
  5. They are located inside the CNS.
  6. They get their neurons including interneurons and afferent neurons.
