Afferent neurons:
- They are responsible for receiving and transmitting messages to the central nervous system from all parts of the body.
- They make up sensory nerves.
- They have a single long dendrite and a short axon.
- The cell body of afferent neuron is perfectly rounded and smooth.
- They are located just outside the CNS.
- They are activated by external stimuli such as vision. hearing, touch etc.
Effernt neurons:
- They are responsible for receiving and transmitting the messages from the CNS to all the parts of body.
- They make up motor neurons.
- They have a single long axon and several dendrites.
- The cell body of efferent neuron is satellite shaped.
- They are located inside the CNS.
- They get their neurons including interneurons and afferent neurons.
