differnces between polycythemia and anemia.

POLYCYTHEMIA:

  • It is a condition in which there is an increase in the number of red blood cells or to decreased in the volume of the plasma.
  • The hematocrit (volume % of red blood cells in the blood) is elevated.

ANAEMIA:

  • It is a decrease in the total amount of red blood cells (RBCs) or a lowered ability of the blood to carry oxygen.
  • The hematocrit is lowered than normal.
